Script for Entrance into Public Events
Hello, I am Janet Martin, from the sociology department of Warren Wilson College. I am conducting research to fulfill the requirements form my Bachelors of Arts Degree in Sociology under the supervision of Dr. Laura Vance, a sociology professor at Warren Wilson College. The purpose of my research is to investigate gender stereotypes in sports based on the experiences of female athletes. I wanted to ask if it would be alright for me to observe this event. I may be making written and recorded notes during this public event and may seek to conduction informal interviews with spectators and/or participants. Participation in the interviews will be entirely voluntary and all personal information and answers will be kept confidential. All recordings and notes will be held in a secure location with access available to only myself and my supervisor. All of the responses collected will be utilized in my findings as collective data. If individual responses are cited they will be referenced by pseudonym and no answer will be able to be directly linked to identifying information.
