Religion

Country is mostly Athiest or do not follow any religion. All mosques and churches were closed in 1967 and religious observances prohibited; in 1990, Albania began allowing private religious practice. According to an official US Government Report: "No data are available on active participation in formal religious services, but estimates indicate that "only 30 to 40 percent of the population practices a religion."

Albania [1] (Albanian: Shqipëria) is a small country in Mediterranean Europe. It shares borders with Greece, the Republic of Macedonia, Kosovo, and Montenegro.

Tirana - the capital. Trees and mountains surround the city. Mt. Dajt is touristic for its view over the city.

Durrës - One of the oldest cities in Albania. Flooded three times during its history. The current city is built on the ruins of two previous ones. It has the largest amphitheatre in the Balkans. It is currently the main port of Albania and has the longest shoreline.

Shkodra-the biggest town in the Northern Albania. It has the Rozafa castle that is a major tourist attraction.

Gjirokastër - a city in Albania. There is a large castle on the hill in the middle of the city, formerly a jail for many generations. An Army museum is located inside.

Sarande- a city in southern Albania known for its unforgetable beaches and colorful springs.

Kruje- ancient city of the hero Skanderbeg. It consists of beautiful mountains, Skanderbegs castle now a museum. There are villas where shopping is done on a hillside stone padded floors.

Korce- Located in southeast Albania, several miles from the Greek border, this city is full of life during the summer times where you can find people strolling through the city's main park, Parku Rinia. You can hike to the top of the beautiful mountain Moravia and view the city and its beautiful landscape.
