WALTER REYNER BRUNTON (1866-1930). M.B. (Durham), M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.), D.P.H. (Durham).

Walter Reyner Brunton (1866-1930) [Epsom College 1880-1880] was the son of Dr L. B. Brunton, of Commercial Road, London. He was educated at the London Hospital and Durham University, and then went into general practice at Poplar, East London.


THOMAS ARCHIBALD DUKES (1866-1938). B.Sc., M.B. (Lond.), M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.).

Thomas Archibald Dukes (1866-1938) [Epsom College 1877-1885. Captain of Rugby XV. Hodgkin Prize] was the son of Dr M. C. Dukes, of Croydon, Surrey, brother of Dr Edmund Sprague Dukes [Epsom College 1882-1886], and father of Bernard Sprague Dukes [Epsom College 1936-1941]. He received his medical education at St Thomas’s Hospital, and went into general practice in Croydon, Surrey, where he was also Medical Officer for the Croydon District of the Croydon Union.


PERCY JAMES DUNCAN (1866-1933). B.Sc., M.D. (Lond.), M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.).

Percy James Duncan (1866-1933) [Epsom College 1877-1884. Entrance Scholar. Captain of Rugby XV. Propert Prize. Gilchrist Scholarship] was the son of Dr P. C. Duncan, of Great Marlborough Street, London, brother of Charles Herbert Duncan [afterwards Keston] [Epsom College 1877-1882], and father of Charles Percy Hochee Duncan [Epsom College 1907-1915], and James Robert Norman Duncan [Epsom College 1919-1921]. He was awarded an Entrance Scholarship to Charing Cross Hospital, where he won the Golding Scholarship, the Llewellyn Scholarship, and the Governors’ Gold Medal for Clinical Medicine. He then went into general practice at Bournemouth, and was Honorary Medical Officer to the Royal Victoria Hospital, Bournemouth.


ARTHUR CUNDELL MAJOR (1866-1941). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.).

Arthur Cundell Major (1866-1941) [Epsom College 1876-1881] was the son of Dr H. P. Major, of Hungerford, Berkshire. He received his medical education at the London Hospital, and went into general practice at Reading, Berkshire, where he was also Surgeon to the Reading Dispensary. During the First World War he served as a Captain in the R.A.M.C. (1914-1918). He later emigrated to Proctor, British Columbia No further records found.


ARTHUR BOULTON (1866-1934). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.), D.P.H. (Lond.).

Arthur Boulton (1866-1934) [Epsom College 1880-1884. Ann Hood Exhibition] was the son of Dr A. E. Boulton, of Horncastle, Lincolnshire, and brother of Major-General Harold Boulton, C.B, C.B.E. [Epsom College 1885-1891]. He received his medical education at Charing Cross Hospital, and was appointed Medical Officer of Health for the Woodhall Spa U.D.C., and Horncastle R.D.C.


SIDNEY PHILIP MATTHEWS (1866-1944). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.), J.P.

Sidney Philip Matthews (1866-1944) [Epsom College 1877-1884. Rugby XV. Cricket XI] was the son of B. F. Matthews, surgeon, of Walsham-le-Willows, Suffolk, and father of Dr Sidney Ronald Matthews, J.P. [Epsom College 1911-1919]. He received his medical reaining at the Westminster and St Mary’s Hospitals, went into general practice at Crawley and Three Bridges, Sussex, and was appointed Surgeon for the Crawley Hospital. He was a J.P. for the County of Sussex and a County Councillor. He was a member of the Sussex County Rugby XV.


ARTHUR BRITTEN FRANEY (1867-1946). L.R.C.P., L.R.C.S. (Edin.), L.F.P.S. (Glas.).

Arthur Britten Franey (1867-1946) [Epsom College 1879-1885. Rugby XV. Cricket XI] was the son of Dr Edward Franey, of Banbury, Oxfordshire. He received his medical education at St Mary’s Hospital, and was appointed Medical Officer of Health and Public Vaccinator for Hadleigh U.D.C., Suffolk. He was also the Medical Officer for Layham District, Corford Union.


WILLIAM COPE HAMILTON (1867-1928). L.R.C.P.I. and L.M., L.R.C.S.I. and L.M.

William Cope Hamilton (1867-1928) [Epsom College 1879-1879] was the son of Dr Edward Hamilton, of Dublin, and brother of Dr Edward Wallace Hamilton [Epsom College 1877-1879], John Hamilton [Epsom College 1882-1886], and Robert Wallace Hamilton, who was a member of the Ireland Rugby XV [Epsom College 1882-1888]. He received his medical education at the Rotunda Hospital, Dublin, and was appointed Medical Officer of Health for Dublin City Port Authority, and the Grand Canal Company. He was previously Resident Medical Officer at St Steven’s Hospital, Dublin.


ARTHUR LEONARD ROPER (1867-1903). M.A., M.B., B.Ch. (Cantab.), L.S.A. (Lond.).

Arthur Leonard Roper (1867-1903) [Epsom College 1877-1881] was the son of Arthur Roper, surgeon, of Lewisham, South London, and brother of Edward George Roper [Epsom College 1877-1881]. He received his medical education at Clare College, Cambridge and Guy’s Hospital, and went into general practice at Lewisham, South London. He died in 1903, aged 36 years. No further details known.


EDWIN MONTAGUE WILKES (1867-1901). L.S.A. (Lond.), D.P.H.

Edwin Montague Wilkes (1867-1901) [Epsom College 1880-1901. Rugby XV] was the son of Surgeon Major Edwin Wilkes. He received his medical education at Edinburgh University, and went into general practice at Battersea, South London, where he was also the Medical Officer and Public Vaccinator for No. 2 District of the Battersea Union. He was previously a Staff Surgeon with the rank of Major in the R.A.M.C. He died in 1901, aged 34 years. No further details known.


STANLEY FOSTER (1867-1952). L.R.C.P., L.R.C.S. (Edin.), L.F.P.S. (Glas.).

Stanley Foster (1867-1952) [Epsom College 1881-1884] was the son of Dr W. F. Foster, of Newport, Isle of Wight, and father of Colonel William Geoffrey Stanley Foster, O.B.E., R.A.M.C. [Epsom College 1916-1919]. He received his medical education at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, and went into general practice at Newport, Isle of Wight, where he was also Medical Officer of Health and Public Vaccinator for the Arreton District, Isle of Wight.


ISAAC NEWTON (1867-1955). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.).

Isaac Newton (1867-1955) [Epsom College 1882-1886. prefect. Rugby XV. Cricket XI. Wakley and Sterry Prizes] was the son of Dr Isaac Newton, of Worksop, Nottinghamshire. He received his medical education at Charing Cross Hospital, and went into general practice at Tonbridge, Kent. Dr Isaac Newton was a direct descendent of Isaac Newton, the distinguished mathematician and polymath. In 1894, he published an account of an epidemic in Kent, of what he termed ‘Epidemic Muscular Rheumatism’. His description in the British Medical Journal is clearly that of Bornholm Disease (epidemic pleurodynia). Although the first reference to Bornholm Disease, which is a coxsackie viral infection, was in 1872, twenty-two years before Newton’s account, it was published in a Norwegian Journal, which Newton was most unlikely to have seen. It was not until 1933, some 39 years after Newton’s article, that the pathogenesis of Bornholm Disease and its current name were first announced. He was a member of the Devon County Rugby XV.


GEORGE ROBERT FABRIS STILWELL (1867-1955). O.B.E., M.B., B.S., M.D. (London), M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.), L.S.A. (Lond.).

George Robert Fabris Stilwell (1867-1955) [Epsom College 1878-1886. prefect. Rugby XV. Martin, Propert, Brande and Watts Prizes] was the son of Dr R. R. Stilwell, of Beckenham, Kent, brother of Spencer Fabius Stilwell [Epsom College 1888-1891], and father of Dr George Denison Stilwell [Epsom College born 1917]. He received his medical education at St Thomas’s Hospital, and went into general practice at Beckenham, Kent, where he remained for over 60 years. He was Honorary Consulting Medical Officer to the Beckenham Hospital, and Vice-President of that Hospital (1934). During the First World War he served as a Captain in the R.A.M.C. and was in charge of a war hospital established at Beckenham. For his wartime services he received the O.B.E. He was President of the Kent Branch of the British Medical Association in 1930-1931, and again from 1943 to 1947, and Chairman of the Bromley Division of the B.M.A. (1924-1925; 1938-1939).


WILLIAM RINGROSE GORE (1867-1914). M.B., B.Ch. (Dublin), B.A.O., L.M.

William Ringrose Gore (1867-1914) [Epsom College 1879-1882] was the son of A. A. Gore, surgeon in the Indian Army. He received his medical education at University College Hospital and the Royal College of Surgeons, Dublin. He went into general practice at Whitchurch, Shropshire, and was Honorary Surgeon to Whitchurch Cottage Hospital.


JAMES ROBERT MARR RICHMOND (1867-1923). L.S.A. (Lond.), L.M.S.S.A.

James Robert Marr Richmond (1867-1923) [Epsom College 1881-1884] was the son of Dr Sylvester Richmond, M.D. of Northallerton, North Yorkshire, and grandfather of Professor Sir Mark Henry Richmond, F.R.C.P., F.R.S., Vice-Chancellor of Manchester University [Epsom College 1944-1949]. He received his medical education at King’s College Hospital, and went into general practice at St Just, Cornwall. He was previously Medical Officer of Health and Surgeon for the Overton District of Hampshire.


HERBERT JOHN LEAVIS WALES (1867-1895). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.), L.S.A. (Lond.).

Herbert John Leavis Wales (1867-1895) [Epsom College 1881-1886] was the son of Brigadier Surgeon John Wales, of Stirling, and brother of William Gurneys Wales [Epsom College 1882-1888]. He received his medical education at Guy’s Hospital, and went into general practice at Leeds, Yorkshire. He died at Oundle, Northamptonshire in 1895. He was aged 28 years.


FREDERICK JOHN CHARLTON (1867-1933). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.).

Frederick John Charlton (1867-1933) [Epsom College 1880-1885. Carr Exhibition and Clothworkers’ Scholarship] was the son of Dr Egbert Charlton, of Tonbridge, Kent. He received his medical education at University College Hospital, and went into general practice at Hessle, Yorkshire, where he was Medical Officer of Health for the Spennymoor District, Co. Durham.



HUGH FAWSIT EALAND (1867-1939). L.R.C.P., L.R.C.S. (Edin.), L.F.P.S. (Glas.), L.S.A. (Lond.).

Hugh Fawsit Ealand (1867-1939) [Epsom College 1882-1886. Captain of Rugby XV] was the son of Frederick Ealand, draper, of Bath. He received his medical education at St Mary’s Hospital, and went into general practice at Farnham, Surrey, where he was also Medical Officer and Public Vaccinator for the North District, Farnham Union, Honorary Surgeon for Trimmer’s Cottage Hospital, Surrey, and Medical Officer for Farnham Cottage Hospital. He was the first President of the newly formed Old Epsomian Club (1923).


WALTER WINGFIELD NUTTALL (1867-1947). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.), M.D. (Lond.), J.P.

Walter Wingfield Nuttall (1867-1947) [Epsom College 1882-1884] was the son of Dr Henry Nuttall, of Leicester, and brother of Frank Dalley Nuttall [Epsom College 1879-1882]. He was awarded an Entrance Scholarship to St Bartholomew’s Hospital, and went into general practice at Folkestone, Kent. At the commencement of the Second World War he was appointed Medical Officer of Health for a wide district of Kent. He was also a Magistrate for the borough of Folkestone and a J.P. for the County of Kent.


JOHN HENRY FREDERICK WAY (1868-1938). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.), L.S.A. (Lond.).

John Henry Frederick Way (1868-1938) [Epsom College 1879-1886. Carr Prize] was the son of F. W. Way, surgeon, of Portsmouth. He received his medical education at St Thomas’s Hospital, and went into general practice at Portsmouth, Hampshire. He was also an Honorary Surgeon for the St John Ambulance Brigade, and served as a Captain in the 2nd Hampshire Volunteer Artillery.


THOMAS SPRY BYASS (1868-1944). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.), L.S.A. (Lond.).

Thomas Spry Byass (1868-1944) [Epsom College 1880-1886] was the son of Dr E. S. Byass, of Cuckfield, Sussex, brother of Edgar Bowles Byass [Epsom College 1893-1897], and father of Edgar Thomas Spry Byass [Epsom College 1926-1929]. He received his medical education at University College Hospital, and went into general practice at Wallingford, Berkshire, where he was also Medical Officer of Health and Public Vaccinator for the Dorchester District of the Wallingford Union.


HENRY GEORGE DRUMMOND HALLETT (1868-1917). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.).

Henry Geoge Drummond Hallett (1868-1917) [Epsom College 1883-1885. prefect] was the son of T. H. Hallett, of Bengal. He received his medical education at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, and was appointed Medical Superintendent of Leavesden Asylum, Hertfordshire.


FRANCIS WYLLIE HALL-WRIGHT (1868-1939). L.R.C.P., L.R.C.S. (Edin.), L.F.P.S. (Glas.).

Francis Wyllie Hall-Wright (1868-1939) [Epsom College 1881-1883] was the son of M. Hall-Wright, surgeon, of Edgbaston, Birmingham. He received his medical education at Charing Cross Hospital, and Mason’s College (Birmingham University). He was appointed Assistant Surgeon and Government Medical Officer in the Colonial Service for British Honduras. Before that he was employed as a Surgeon by the British and African Steam Navigation Company. The Epsom College Register (1855-1954) comments that he was a ‘sometime prospector’ in North West Territory, Australia.


ERIC LAW PRITCHARD (1868-1959). A.K.C., M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.), M.D. (Lond.), M.R.C.P. (Lond.).

Eric Law Pritchard (1868-1959) [Epsom College 1881-1886] was the son of Dr G. F. Pritchard, of Sittingbourne, Kent, and brother of Olaf Fleetwood Pritchard [Epsom College 1884-1890], Dr Ireton George Pritchard [Epsom College 1889-1894], and Roger Cromwell Pritchard [Epsom College 1891-1893]. He received his medical education at King’s College Hospital and King’s College, London, where he won the Jelf Medal. He was then appointed Assistant Demonstrator of Anatomy at King’s College Hospital, and prosector at the Royal College of Surgeons. After these appointments, he went into general practice at Knowle Coomb, Sidmouth, Devon, and later at South Hampstead, London. He was a Member of Council of the Eugenics Society (1920).


NEVILLE PERCY FRANCIS TOLLER (1868-1900). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.).

Neville Percy Francis Toller (1868-1900) [Epsom College 1879-1879] was the son of Ebenezer Toller, surgeon, of Gloucester, and brother of Victor Conyers Toller [Epsom College 1878-1880]. He received his medical education at St Thomas’s Hospital. He played for the London Counties Rugby XV. He died in 1900, aged 32 years. No further details known.


ARTHUR EDWARD ANTHONY LATHBURY (1868-1904). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.).

Arthur Edward Anthony Lathbury (1868-1904) [Epsom College 1880-1868] was the son of Dr T. A. Lathbury, of Tabernacle Row, London. He received his medical education at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, and went into general practice at Finsbury Square, London. He was Cholera Medical Officer for the St Luke’s District, London. He died in 1904, aged 36 years. No further details known.


WILLIAM HENRY GOODSON (1868-1931). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.), L.S.A. (Lond.).

William Henry Goodson (1868-1931) [Epsom College 1882-1885] was the son of Dr William Goodson, of Leytonstone, Essex. He received his medical education at the London Hospital, and went into general practice at Prittlewell, Essex.


EDMUND SPRAGUE DUKES (1868-1951). M.B. (Lond.), M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.), L.S.A. (Lond.).

Edmund Sprague Dukes (1868-1951) [Epsom College 1882-1886] was the son of Dr M. C. Dukes, of Croydon, Surrey, and brother of Dr Thomas Archibald Dukes [Epsom College 1877-1885]. He received his medical education at Guy’s Hospital, and went into general practice at Croydon. He emigrated later to New Zealand, and died at Manganui. No further details known.


GEORGE KENNY LEVICK (1868-1930). M.B., B.S. (Lond.), M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.).

George Kenny Levick (1868-1930) [Epsom College 1882-1883] was the son of Dr George Levick, of West Ham, East London, brother of Dr Percy Levick [Epsom College 1886-1892], and father of Dr Percy George Levick [Epsom College 1914-1920), and Dr Richard Edward Kenny Levick [Epsom College 1921-1928]. He received his medical education at Guy’s Hospital, taking First Class Honours in anatomy in the M.B. Examination. He then went into general practice at Havant, Hampshire, where he was also the local Medical Officer of Health.


RUSTAT HENRY HEMSTED (1868-1936). M.D. (Durham), M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.).

Rustat Henry Hemsted (1868-1936) [Epsom College 1882-1885] was the son of Dr Henry Hemsted, of Whitchurch, Hampshire, and brother of Stephen Rustat Hemsted [Epsom College 1894-1901], and Arthur Rustat Hemsted [Epsom College 1901-1907]. He received his medical education at St Mary’s Hospital and Durham University, and went into general practice at Whitchurch, Hampshire, where he was Medical Officer and Public Vaccinator for the Whitchurch District of the Whitchurch Union. He was also Medical Officer for the Whitchurch Workhouse. He emigrated later to Australia, and died there in 1936.


JOHN HARDMAN DOW (1868-1928). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.).

John Hardman Dow (1868-1928) [Epsom College 1883-1885], parentage not ascertained. He received his medical education at Owen’s College (Manchester University), and went into general practice at St Helens, Lancashire.


ARTHUR SPEAD LAWRENCE (1868-1895). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.).

Arthur Spead Lawrence (1868-1895) [Epsom College 1884-1885] was the son of Dr A. G. Lawrence, of Chepstow, Monmouthshire, and brother of Major William Lyttleton Lawrence, D.S.O. [Epsom College 1886-1891]. He received his medical education at the Middlesex Hospital. He died as the result of a riding accident at Chepstow, in 1895. He was aged 27 years.


EDGAR WILLIAM SEYMOUR (formerly HOFFMEISTER) (1868-1926). M.V.O., M.A., M.B., B.Ch. (Cantab.), M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.).

Edgar William Seymour (1868-1926) [Epsom College 1880-1886. head prefect. Captain of Cricket XI. Sterry, Engledue and Martin Prizes] was the son of Dr William Hoffmeister, M.V.O., M.D., Surgeon Apothecary to H.M. Queen Victoria, [Epsom College 1856-1860]. He received his medical education at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge and was a Scholar of St Bartholomew’s Hospital. He went into general practice at Cowes, Isle of Wight, and was appointed Surgeon Apothecary to H.M. Queen Victoria and the Royal Family at Osborne, Surgeon-in-Ordinary to Princess Beatrice, and Surgeon to the Royal Yacht Squadron. He was also Medical Officer to the Osborne House Officer’s Convalescent Home. He was a member of both the Cambridge University and Hampshire County Cricket XIs.



HENRY COLLIER (1868-1924). M.D. (Durham), M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.).

Henry Collier (1868-1924) [Epsom College 1882-1882] was the son of Dr W. H. Collier, of Southport, Lancashire, and brother of Frederick William Collier [Epsom College 1883-1887]. He received his medical education at the Middlesex Hospital, University College, Liverpool and Durham Universities, and went into general practice at Wolverhampton.



OSMUND WHITECHURCH GANGE (1868-1951). L.S.A. (Lond.), L.M.S.S.A.

Osmund Whitechurch Gange (1868-1951) [Epsom College 1886-1887] was the son of Dr F. A. Gange, of Faversham, Kent, and brother of Percy Ridley Gange [Epsom College 1887-1888], and Leonard Gange [Epsom College 1895-1901]. He received his medical education at University College Hospital, and went into general practice at Pluckley, Kent.


JOHN DEE SHAPLAND (1868-1919). M.A. (Cantab.), M.D. (Durham), B.S. (Cantab.).

John Dee Shapland (1868-1919) [Epsom College 1885-1885] was the son of Dr J. D. Shapland, of Bishop’s Tawton, Devon, and brother of Frederick George Westacott Shapland [Epsom College 1885-1885]. He received his medical education at Queen’s College, Cambridge, Durham University, and University College Hospital. He went into general practice at Exmouth, Devon, and was Medical Officer for the Exmouth District of the St Thomas’s Union.


JAMES HERBERT HADAWAY (1868-1917). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.).

James Herbert Hadaway (1868-1917) [Epsom College 1880-1883] was the son of Dr James Hadaway, of Welbeck Street, London. He received his medical education at the Middlesex Hospital, and went into general practice at Camden Road, North London.


ARCHIBALD KIDD (1868-1937). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.), D.P.H. (Eng.).

Archibald Kidd (1868-1937) [Epsom College 1879-1887] was the son of Dr R. R. Kidd, of Norwich, and brother of Herbert Alfred Kidd [Epsom College 1879-1881], and father of Dr Humphry Bohun Kidd [Epsom College 1938-1942]. He received his medical education at the Middlesex Hospital, and went into general practice at Gravesend, Kent, where he was also Assistant Medical Officer to the Port of London Sanitary Authority. He was at some time Medical Officer of Health at Port Elizabeth, South Africa.


NATHANIEL TROUGHTON BOND (1868-1938). M.B., C.M. (Edin.).

Nathaniel Troughton Bond (1868-1938) [Epsom College 1883-1886] was the son of J. A. Bond, surgeon, of Atherstone, Warwickshire. He received his medical education at Edinburgh University, and went into general practice at Polesworth, near Tamworth, Warwickshire.


ARTHUR HAMILTON MEADOWS (1868-1952). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.).

Arthur Hamilton Meadows (1868-1952) [Epsom College 1884-1885] was the son of Dr Daniel Meadows, of Great Yarmouth. He received his medical education at Guy’s Hospital, and went into general practice at Great Yarmouth, where he was also Medical Superintendent of the Great Yarmouth Isolation Hospital. During the First World War he served as a Major in the R.A.M.C. (1914-1918).


LIEUTENANT-COLONEL GEORGE YEATES COBB HUNTER (1868-1932). I.M.S., M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.).

George Yeates Cobb Hunter (1868-1932) [Epsom College 1881-1886. prefect. Rugby XV. Brande Prize] was the son of Brigadier Surgeon G. Y. Hunter, I.A., and brother of Major General George Douglas Hunter, C.B., C.M.G., D.S.O., A.M.S. [Epsom College 1876-1879]. He received his medical education at St George’s Hospital, and entered the Bengal Medical Service, where he served in civil employment in the Jail Department in the province of Bengal.


JOHN GAWLER MURRAY (1868-1946). L.R.C.P., L.R.C.S. (Edin.), L.F.P.S. (Glas.).

John Gawler Murray (1868-1946) [Epsom College 1884-1887] was the son of Dr J. I. Murray, of Scarborough. He received his medical education at Edinburgh University, and went into general practice at Blakesley, Northamptonshire. During the First World War he served as a Major in the R.A.M.C., and was put in charge of the military hospital at Scarborough. He was also an Admiralty Surgeon, which involved going to sea in order to render assistance to ships which had been mined by the Germans.


JOHN HENRY REGINALD PIGEON (1869-1908). L.S.A. (Lond.).

John Henry Reginald Pigeon (1869-1908) [Epsom College 1883-1884] was the son of Dr Henry Pigeon, of Clifton, Bristol. He received his medical education at Bristol University and Guy’s Hospital, and then went into general practice at Bristol, where he was also Medical Officer to Druids Lodge. He died aged 39 years. No further details known.


ARTHUR JAMES DALE (1869-1949). M.D., B.S. (Durham).

Arthur James Dale (1869-1949) [Epsom College 1882-1886] was the son of Dr John Dale, of Stockton-on-Tees, Co. Durham, and brother of John Graves Dale [Epsom College 1882-1884]. He received his medical education at Durham University, and went into general practice at Stockton on Tees. He was also Honorary Consultant Surgeon to the Stockton and Thornaby Hospital, Durham.


DUDLEY CLAUD PALMER TAYLOR (1869-1924). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.).

Dudley Claud Palmer Taylor (1869-1924) [Epsom College 1881-1886] was the son of Frederic Taylor, surgeon, of Woodstock, Oxfordshire, and brother of Dr Frederick Henry Arthur Taylor [Epsom College 1878-1885], and Charles Pearson Taylor [Epsom College 1881-1885]. He received his medical education at Charing Cross Hospital, and went into general practice at Sibsey, near Boston, Lincolnshire, where he was also Medical Officer of Health and Public Vaccinator for the Sibsey District of the Boston Union.
