HENRY STACEY TUPPEN (1863-1896). M.A., M.B., B.C. (Cantab.), M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.).

Henry Stacey Tuppen (1863-1896) [Epsom College 1878-1881] was the son of Harry Tuppen, of Brighton, Sussex. He received his medical education at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, and St Thomas’s Hospital. He went into general practice at Tregunter Road, Chelsea, London. He died early, at the age of 33 years.


WILLIAM DEWEY BUNCOMBE (1863-1936). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.).

William Dewey Buncombe (1863-1936) [Epsom College 1874-1874] was the son of C. H. Buncombe, F.R.C.S., of Bow Road, London. He received his medical education at the London Hospital, and was appointed Medical Superintendent of the City of London Infirmary, Bow Road. During the First World War he served as a Lieutenant-Colonel in the R.A.M.C. in charge of the City of London Military Hospital (1914-1918).


FREDERICK NATHANIEL BROWN (1863-1934). M.B. (Lond.), M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.), L.M. (Dublin).

Frederick Nathaniel Brown (1863-1934) [Epsom College 1879-1881. Watts Science Prize] was the son of Edward Brown, East India Merchant, of Wandsworth, South London. He won a Science Exhibition to St Bartholomew’s Hospital, and took 1st Class Honours in the M.B. Examination. He went into general practice at Frimley Green, Surrey. During the First World War he served as a Major in the R.A.M.C. (1914-1918).


TOM ALEXANDER BARRETT PLOWMAN (1863-1928). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.).

Tom Alexander Barrett Plowman (1863-1928) [Epsom College 1879-1881] was the son of Thomas Plowman, surgeon, of Curry, Somerset, and brother of Arthur Sydney Plowman [Epsom College 1870-1871]. He received his medical education at St Thomas’s Hospital, and went into general practice at North Curry, Taunton, where he was also Medical Officer of Health and Public Vaccinator for the North Curry District, Taunton Union.


PERCIVAL CECIL HARDINGE RYAN (1863-1947). M.A., M.D., B.Ch., L.M. (Dubl.).

Percival Cecil Hardinge Ryan (1863-1947) [Epsom College 1876-1877] was the son of Dr John Ryan, of Dublin. He received his medical education at Trinity College, Dublin, and the Middlesex Hospital. He was Medical Officer of Health and Public Vaccinator for the City of Bath, and Medical Officer for the Bath Southern Dispensary.


FREDERICK ARTHUR JOHN ROBERTSON BROOKE (1863-1918). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.).

Frederick Arthur Robertson Brooke (1863-1918) [Epsom College 1876-1881] was the son of T. G. Brooke, surgeon, of Langport, Somerset, and brother of Dr Tom Balleny Brooke [Epsom College 1877-1881]. He received his medical education at the London Hospital. He served as a Physician to the Tidworth Military Hospital, and during the First World War served as a Captain in the R.A.M.C. attached to the Wiltshire Regiment. He was killed in action in 1918.


GERALD EUSTACE FITZGERALD (1863-1912). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.).

Gerald Eustace Fitzgerald (1863-1912) [Epsom College 1875-1878] was the son of Dr C. E. Fitzgerald, of Folkestone, Kent. He received his medical education at St George’s Hospital, and went into general practice at King William Street, London. He emigrated later to Grahamstown, South Africa, and died there in 1912.


CHARLES MICHAEL COOKE (1863-1934). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.).

Charles Michael Cooke (1863-1934) [Epsom College 1875-1879] was the son of Michael Cooke, surgeon, of Barnstaple, Devon, and brother of Dr James Wood Cooke [Epsom College 1855-1862]. He received his medical education at St Mary’s Hospital, and went into general practice at Northam, near Barnstaple, Devon. Whilst at the height of his career he became totally blind and had to give up his medical practice.



CHARLES HICKS (1863-1907). L.R.C.P., L.R.C.S. (Edin.), L.F.P.S. (Glas.).

Charles Hicks (1863-1907) [Epsom College 1877-1881. Rugby XV] was the son of G. D. Hicks, landowner, of Toddington, Bedfordshire. He received his medical education at St George’s Hospital and Edinburgh University, and went into general practice at Horsmonden, Kent.


JAMES WASDALE HUDSON (1863-1937). L.R.C.P., L.R.C.S. (Edin.), L.F.P.S. (Glas.).

James Wasdale Hudson (1863-1937) [Epsom College 1878-1882. Rugby XV. Cricket XI. MacFarlane Cup] was the son of T. W. Hudson, surgeon, of Bootle, Merseyside. He received his medical education at the Middlesex Hospital and Edinburgh University, and went into general practice at Carnforth, Cumbria, where he was Medical Officer for the Hodbarrow Friendly Society and Furness Railway Company.


CAPTAIN HUGH ROBERT CAMPBELL BARBER (1863-1896). I.M.S., B.A. (Hons.), M.B. B.Ch. (Cantab.).

Hugh Robert Campbell Barber (1863-1896) [Epsom College 1878-1882. Brande, Engledue, Martin, and Maths Prizes] was the son of the Rev. Henry Barber, M.D., of Penzance, Cornwall. He was a Scholar of St Catherine’s College, Cambridge, where he passed the B.A. Examination with First Class Honours. He was then awarded the Gilchrist Scholarship and Clothworkers Exhibition to St Bartholomew’s Hospital. After qualification, he entered the Indian Medical Service with the rank of Surgeon Captain, passed the examinations in Hindustani, Afghan and Pashti, and before the usual time was appointed Surgeon at Sialkote. He died later, at Murree, Bengal, “through attendance on a fever-stricken portion of the district under his care”. He was 33 years old.


THOMAS HAMILTON WARD (1864-1942). M.D., M.B., C.M. (Edin.).

Thomas Hamilton Ward (1864-1942) [Epsom College 1875-1881] was the son of T. M. Ward, surgeon, of Exmouth, Devon. He received his medical education at Edinburgh University, where he took First Class Honours in the M.B., C.M. Examination, and won the Senior Medal in Anatomy. He went into general practice at Paignton, Devon, and was also Senior Medical Officer at the Devon County Asylum, Exeter; the Exeter City Asylum, and Medical Officer for Paignton Hospital. During the First World War he served as a Major in the R.A.M.C. (1914-1918).


FRANK BOXALL (1864-1926). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.), L.S.A. (Lond.).

Frank Boxall (1864-1926) [Epsom College 1880-1882] was the son of Henry Boxall, F.R.C.S. of Wisborough Green, Sussex, and brother of Robert Boxall, M.D. [Epsom College 1870-1877]. He received his medical education at University College Hospital, and went into general practice at Rudgwick, Sussex.


JOHN LESLIE JEAFFRESON (1864-1941). M.D. (Durham), M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.), L.S.A. (Lond.).

John Leslie Jeaffreson (1864-1926) [Epsom College 1875-1881] was the son of J. B. Jeaffreson, surgeon, of Highbury, North London., and brother of Dr Dudley Jeaffreson [Epsom College 1886-1894]. He received his medical education at St Bartholomew’s Hospital and Durham University, and went into general practice at Blisworth, Northamptonshire and later, at Shanklin, Isle of Wight.


JAMES LOUIS SCOTT SHERLOCK (1864-1900). L.R.C.P., L.R.C.S. (Edin.), L.F.P.S. (Glas.).

James Louis Sherlock (1864-1900) [Epsom College 1875-1880] was the son of Dr James Sherlock, of Powick, Worcestershire, and brother of Abraham John Bruce Sherlock [Epsom College 1864-1872]. He received his medical education at Edinburgh University, and was later appointed Medical Officer in the Uganda Medical Department. He served in the East African War, in Uganda, and was killed in 1900, in action against the Nandi. He was aged 36 years.


FRANK SAVERY (1864-1946). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.).

Frank Savery (1864-1946) [Epsom College 1874-1882. Carr Exhibition] was the son of J. C. Savery, apothecary, of Hastings, Sussex. He was awarded an Entrance Scholarship to University College Hospital, where he won the Erichsen Prize for Practical Surgery. He was appointed Resident Anaesthetist at Hull Royal Infirmary, and then entered general practice at Ealing, West London, where he was also Medical Officer for the Ealing Cottage Hospital. He was a member of the West London Medico-Chirurgical Society.


BERTRAM BROOKE HOGGAN (1864-1908). L.R.C.P., L.R.C.S. (Edin.), L.F.P.S. (Glas.).

Bertram Brooke Hoggan (1864-1908) [Epsom College 1878-1880] was the son of William Hoggan, Deputy Inspector of Hospitals and Fleets, and brother of Lieutenant Robert Hoggan, R.N. [Epsom College 1865-1865]. He received his medical education at Edinburgh University. He emigrated later to Geelong, Victoria, Australia, and died in 1908, aged 44 years.


TOM BALLENY BROOKE (1864-1938). L.R.C.P., L.R.C.S. (Edin.), L.F.P.S. (Glas.).

Tom Balleny Brooke (1864-1938) [Epsom College 1877-1881] was the son of T. G. Brooke, surgeon, of Langport, Somerset, and brother of Dr Frederick Arthur John Robertson Brooke [Epsom College 1876-1881]. He received his medical education at Edinburgh University, and went into general practice at Forest Hill, South London. He was previously Medical Superintendent of the River Ambulance Service, and Medical Officer in charge of the Small Pox Hospital, Gloucester.


EDWARD WALLACE HAMILTON (1864-1929). M.B., L.R.C.S. (Dublin).

Edward Wallace Hamilton (1864-1929) [Epsom College 1877-1879] was the son of Dr Edward Hamilton, of Dublin, brother of Dr William Cope Hamilton [Epsom College 1879-1879], John Hamilton [Epsom College 1882-1886], and Robert Wallace Hamilton, a member of the Ireland Rugby XV [Epsom College 1882-1888]. He received his medical education at Trinity College, Dublin, and went into general practice at Fulham, London.


BENJAMIN STUART LOCKWOOD (1864-1947). L.R.C.P., L.R.C.S. (Edin.), L.F.P.S. (Glas.).

Benjamin Stuart Lockwood (1864-1947) [Epsom College 1878-1881. Cricket XI] was the son of Joseph Lockwood, of Kirkburton, Yorkshire. He received his medical education at Edinburgh University, and went into general practice at Holbeck, Leeds. He was previously Assistant Medical Officer at the University Infirmary, Leeds.



LOUIS PERCIVAL GIBSON (1864-1946). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.).

Louis Percival Gibson (1864-1964) [Epsom College 1879-1883. Rugby XV. Cricket XI. Science Scholarship] was the son of J. E. Gibson, surgeon, of Cowes, Isle of Wight. He received his medical education at the Middlesex Hospital, and went into general practice at Cowes, Isle of Wight. He was also an Admiralty Surgeon at Portsmouth; Surgeon to the Frank James Memorial Home (Cowes Cottage Hospital), and the West Cowes Provident Dispensary, Isle of Wight.


WILLIAM SANDFORD WHITCOMBE (1864-1930). L.S.A., M.D. (Brux.).

William Sandford Whitcombe (1864-1930) [Epsom College 1876-1882] was the son of Philip Whitcombe, surgeon, of Gravesend, Kent; brother of Dr Philip Percival Whitcombe [Epsom College 1874-1878), and the Right Rev. Robert Henry Whitcombe, Suffragan Bishop of Colchester [Epsom College 1874-1876], and father of Robert William Whitcombe [Epsom College 1918-1919]. He received his medical education at Glasgow and Brussels Universities, and went into general practice at Aldermaston, Berkshire, where he was also Medical Officer of Health and Public Vaccinator for the 3rd District, Bradfield Union.


FREDERICK JAMES PORTER SMITH (1864-1945). L.S.A. (Lond.).

Frederick James Porter Smith (1864-1945) [Epsom College 1876-1880] was the son of Dr F. Porter Smith, of Shepton Mallett, Somerset; brother of William Sidney Smith [Epsom College 1879-1879], and Robert Ker Porter Smith [Epsom College 1888-1888]. He received his medical education at St Thomas’s Hospital, and went into general practice at Walworth, South East London. He was previously Resident Clinical Assistant at the National Hospital for Diseases of the Heart, London.


ARTHUR WILLIAM PEARSE (1864-1919). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.).

Arthur William Pearse (1864-1919) [Epsom College 1877-1881] was the son of Dr Arthur Pearse, of Botesdale, Suffolk. He received his medical education at St Thomas’s Hospital. The Medical Directory and Epsom College Register record the address of Arthur Pearse as ‘Bethel Hospital’, Norwich. No further details are recorded and one speculates that he developed dementia or a psychiatric illness and was looked after in that hospital.


ARTHUR JOSEPH LANG (1864-1930). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.).

Arthur Joseph Lang (1864-1930) [Epsom College 1878-1882. prefect. Rugby XV] was the son of Dr John Lang, of Southport, Lancashire, and brother of Dr George Herbert Lang, M.D. [Epsom College 1878-1882]. He received his medical education at University College Hospital, where he was awarded the Gold Medal in Midwifery. He emigrated to Jansenville, Cape Colony, South Africa, and died there in 1930. No further details known.


CHARLES STUART FISHER (1865-1900). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.).

Charles Stuart Fisher (1865-1900) [Epsom College 1877-1883. Rugby XV. Carr Prize] was the son of Dr C. H. Fisher, of Sittingbourne, Kent, and brother of Dr Henry Holdrich Fisher, M.D. [Epsom College 1875-1880]. He received his medical education at St Bartholomew’s Hospital. No further details found.



CHARLES FREDERICK WILLIAMSON (1865-1942). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.), L.S.A. (Lond.).

Charles Frederick Williamson (1865-1942) [Epsom College 1876-1882. prefect] was the son of Dr James Williamson, of Mildmay Park, North London, and brother of Dr Herbert Holdrich Williamson [Epsom College 1873-1878]. He received his medical education at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, where he had been awarded an Entrance Scholarship, and went into general practice at Horley, Surrey. He was Medical Officer for Horley District Hospital for 35 years, and Medical Officer of Health and Public Vaccinator for the Reigate Union District.


CHARLES LYLE WARKE (1865-1935). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P.I.

Charles Lyle Warke (1865-1935) [Epsom College 1879-1882] was the son of Dr William Warke, of Liverpool. He received his medical education at Liverpool University, and went into general practice in Liverpool. He was previously a Surgeon for the Cunard Steamship Line, and Medical Officer at Liverpool Royal Infirmary.


ALBERT CORNER (1865-1911). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.).

Albert Corner (1865-1911) [Epsom College 1879-1885. head prefect. Captain of Rugby XV. Wakley Prize] was the son of Dr F. M. Corner, of Poplar, London, and brother of Dr Harry Corner, M.D. [Epsom College 1879-1883]. He won an Entrance Scholarship to St Bartholomew’s Hospital, and went into general practice at Forest Gate, East London. He was also Senior Clinical Assistant at the Royal Ophthalmic Hospital, and previously Clinical Assistant at Moorfield’s Hospital.


HARRY LOWICK PHELPS (1865-1938). L.R.C.P., L.R.C.S. (Edin.), L.F.P.S. (Glas.).

Harry Lowick Phelps (1865-1938) [Epsom College 1880-1881] was the son of Dr W. H. Phelps, of Bristol. He received his medical education at Aberdeen University, gaining Honours in Anatomy in the Natural Science Examination. He went into general practice at Bishopston, Bristol, and was Surgeon to H.M. Ordnance Survey.


THOMAS NESBITT WRIGHT (1865-1922). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.).

Thomas Nesbitt Wright (1865-1922) [Epsom College 1877-1882] was the son of F. T. Wright, surgeon, of Rochester, Kent. He received his medical education at Guy’s Hospital, and went into general practice at Blackheath, Kent. He emigrated later to Manly, New South Wales, Australia.


GEORGE BRADLEY HOWE (1865-1933). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.), L.S.A. (Lond.), J.P.

George Bradley Howe (1865-1933) [Epsom College 1877-1880] was the son of Dr James Howe, of Stockport, Lancashire, and brother of Frank Howe [Epsom College 1877-1880]. He received his medical education at Manchester University, and went into general practice at Stalybridge, Cheshire, where he was Medical Officer of Health, Public Vaccinator and School Medical Officer for Stalybridge. He was also Medical Officer for Ashton-under-Lyne Union, and Chairman of the Hyde Branch of the British Medical Association. He served as a J.P. for the Borough of Stalybridge.




HERMAN BERTIE TREHANE SYMONS (1865-1936). L.R.C.P.I., L.S.A. (Lond.).

Herman Bertie Trehane Symons (1865-1936) [Epsom College 1878-1879] was the son of Dr J. T. M. Symons, of Woolwich. He received his medical education at Charing Cross Hospital and Aberdeen University. He was employed as a Civil Surgeon with the South African Field Force, Transvaal (1889-1902). He moved later to Italy. No further details known.


RONALD THOMAS GRAVELY (1865-1905). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.).

Ronald Thomas Gravely (1865-1905) [Epsom College 1879-1884. Rugby XV. Cricket XI] was the son of Thomas Gravely, surgeon, of Cowfold, Sussex, and brother of Dr William Homewood Gravely [Epsom College 1866-1868], and Dr John Gabbitas Gravely [Epsom College 1866-1870]. He was awarded an Entrance Scholarship to St Mary’s Hospital, but it appears that having qualified, he gave up medical practice and took to tea planting. He died at Silcuri, Cachar, India, in 1905, aged 40 years.


WILLIAM JOHN RUGG (1865-1891). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.).

William John Rugg (1865-1891) [Epsom College 1879-1880] was the son of Dr G. W. Rugg, of Clapham, South London. He received his medical education at King’s College Hospital, was appointed House Surgeon at Pontefract Hospital, but died in 1891, aged 26 years. No further details known.


SIDNEY HERBERT LEE (1866-1955). B.A., M.B., Ch.B. (Cantab.), M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.).

Sidney Herbert Lee (1866-1955) [Epsom College 1881-1883. Cricket XI] was the son of Dr Herbert Grove Lee, M.D., Dean of the Manchester Medical School [Epsom College 1855-1858]. He received his medical education at Downing College, Cambridge, and the Middlesex Hospital, and went into general practice at Teddington, Middlesex. He was Surgeon to the Teddington Cottage Hospital.


WALTER STANLEY HOLFORD (1866-1934). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.), L.D.S.

Walter Stanley Holford (1866-1934) [Epsom College 1879-1882] was the son of J. J. Holford, dentist, of Sutton, Surrey, and brother of Sydney John Holford, L.D.S. [Epsom College 1890-1892], Arthur Frederick Holford [Epsom College 1890-1893], and Frank Hansard Holford [Epsom College 1899-1900]. He received his medical education at St George’s Hospital, and went into general practice at Sutton, Surrey. He was also a Dental Surgeon for the Belgrave Hospital for Children, and Dental Surgeon for the Sutton Cottage Hospital.


FREDERICK HENRY ARTHUR TAYLOR (1866-1944). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.).

Frederick Henry Arthur Taylor (1866-1944) [Epsom College 1878-1885] was the son of Frederic Taylor, surgeon, of Woodstock, Oxfordshire, and brother of Charles Pearson Taylor [Epsom College 1881-1885], and Dr Dudley Claud Palmer Taylor [Epsom College 1881-1886]. He was awarded an Entrance Scholarship to Charing Cross Hospital, where he won the Governors’ Gold Medal for Medicine, and the Llewellyn Scholarship. He was appointed Medical Officer of Health and Public Vaccinator for the Kidlington District of the Woodstock Union, Oxfordshire.


ROBERT JACOB COLMER (1866-1926). L.S.A. (Lond.), L.M.S.S.A.

Robert Jacob Colmer (1866-1926) [Epsom College 1879-1882] was the son of Dr P. S. H. Colmer, of Yeovil, Somerset, and brother of Dr Ptolemy Augustus Colmer [Epsom College 1880-1885]. He received his medical education at the London Hospital, and was appointed Medical Officer to the Ashanti Gold Fields Corporation at Obuasi, Ghana. He was previously Surgeon for the Africa Royal Mail Shipping Line, Bibby Line, Royal Mail Shipping etc., and also Surgeon of the Alpha Royal National Mission to Deep Sea Fishermen.


FREDERICK LEWIS (born 1866). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.), L.S.A. (Lond.).

Frederick Lewis (born 1866) [Epsom College 1877-1884. Rugby XV. Captain of Cricket XI] was the son of Dr C. F. Lewis, of Henfield, Sussex, and brother of Dr Charles Mortimer Lewis [Epsom College 1876-1880]. He received his medical education at St Mary’s Hospital, where he had been awarded an Entrance Scholarship. He then went into general practice at Henfield, Sussex, where he was also Medical Officer of Health and Public Vaccinator for the 6th District of the Steyning Union, Sussex. He was a member of the Sussex County Rugby XV.


HENRY STANLEY WALKER (born 1866). M.D., C.M. (Edin.), J.P.

Henry Stanley Walker (born 1866) [Epsom College 1880-1885] was the son of J. W. Walker, surgeon, of Spilsby, Lincolnshire, and brother of Thomas Hollis Walker, C.M.G. [Epsom College 1872-1880], and the Rev. Bertie Peregrine Walker [Epsom College 1885-1890], and father of Cyril Stanley Amoore Walker [Epsom College 1915-1918]. He received his medical education at Edinburgh University, and was appointed Medical Officer of Health and Public Vaccinator for the Burwell District of the Louth Union, Lincolnshire, and Honorary Surgeon for Louth Hospital. During the First World War he enlisted as a Surgeon Lieutenant with the 3rd Volunteer Brigade, Lincolnshire Regiment. He served as a J.P. for Lindsey.


EDWARD BETTON GWYNN (1866-1936). M.B., C.M. (Edin.).

Edward Betton Gwynn (1866-1936) [Epsom College 1882-1883] was the son of Dr S. B. Gwynn, of Whitchurch, Staffordshire, and brother of the Rev. William Boulton Gwynn [Epsom College 1881-1888]. He received his medical education at Edinburgh University, and went into general practice at Barrowford, Lancashire. He was previously Senior Assistant Surgeon at the Northern Dispensary, Liverpool.


THOMAS FIELDING WOODHEAD (1866-1932). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.).

Thomas Fielding Woodhead (1866-1932) [Epsom College 1882-1884] was the son of A. T. Woodhead, woollen spinner, of Meltham, Yorkshire. He received his medical education at University College Hospital, and went into general practice at Meltham, Huddersfield, where he was also Medical Officer of Health and Public Vaccinator for the Meltham District of the Huddersfield Union. He also served as Medical Officer for Meltham and South Crosland.


FRANCIS ARTHUR OSBORN (1866-1937). M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.).

Francis Arthur Osborn (1866-1937) [Epsom College 1881-1882] was the son of Dr A. G. Osborn, of Dover, Kent. He received his medical education at Guy’s Hospital, and went into general practice at Dover, Kent, where he was also Honorary Medical Officer for the Royal Victoria Hospital, Dover. He was Secretary of the Dover Division of the British Medical Association, and during the First World War served as a Captain in the R.A.M.C. with the British Expeditionary Force (1914-1920).


JAMES JENKINSON KNOX (1866-1895). M.A., M.B., B.Ch. (Cantab.), M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.).

James Jenkinson Knox (1866-1895) [Epsom College 1880-1883. Rugby XV. Cricket XI] was the son of Dr John Knox, of Bakewell, Derbyshire, and brother of Dr John Edmund Knox [Epsom College 1883-1886]. He received his medical education at Downing College, Cambridge and St. Mary’s Hospital. He died in 1895, aged 29 years. At Cambridge he was a member of the University Soccer XI. No further details known.


EVELYN LANCELOT ADAMS (1866-1954). M.B., B.S. (Lond.), M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.).

Evelyn Lancelot Adams (1866-1954) [Epsom College 1878-1882] was the son of Dr T. R. Adams, of Croydon, Surrey, and brother of Campbell Rutherford Adams [Epsom College 1878-1882]. He received his medical education at Guy’s Hospital, and went into general practice at East Croydon, Surrey, where he was also Senior Assistant Surgeon to the Croydon General Hospital, and Surgeon to the Linen and Woollen Draper’s Institute.


CRANLEY MARTEN PERRY (1866-1910). A.K.C., M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (Eng.).

Cranley Marten Perry (1866-1910) [Epsom College 1877-1883. Rugby XV] was the son of Dr Marten Perry, of Spalding, Lincolnshire. He received his medical education at King’s College Hospital and Edinburgh University, and went into general practice at Tunbridge Wells, Kent, where he was also Clinical Assistant at the Royal Eye Hospital.


ALFRED HENRY GRACE (1866-1916). L.S.A. (Bristol).

Alfred Henry Grace (1866-1916) [Epsom College 1878-1883. Cricket XI] was the son of Dr Alfred Grace, of Chipping Sodbury, Gloucestershire. He received his medical education at Bristol University, and went into general practice at Chipping Sodbury, Gloucestershire. He was also Surgeon Lieutenant-Colonel in the Royal Gloucestershire Hussars Yeomanry Cavalry. Alfred Grace was the brother of W. G. Grace, the famous cricketer, and like him, played for the Gloucestershire County XI.
