SHORT DESCRIPTION OF THE INFORMATION SUBMITTED
|
Biological control of a dominant alien invasive plant (the small tree Miconia calvescens, Melastomataceae) in the tropical island of Tahiti (French Polynesia, South Pacific) using a highly host-specific fungal pathogen (Colletotrichum gloeosporioides forma specialis miconiae) causing partial defoliation of miconia trees and killing their seedlings, has favoured the recruitment of native and endemic plants (including threatened species) with increased species richness and plant cover, and allowed partial restoration of native rainforest.
