At the top of the first page is a short ALS, written to fellow magician Harry B. Linaberry from acclaimed magician John Mulholland, which reads, “Your undesigned good friends hope that every time you take a cigarette from the enclosed case you will be reminded of our high regard for you. Yours in M[agic] U[nity] M[ight].” Signed at the conclusion by Mulholland, as well as sixty other magicians, including: Theo Hardeen (Houdini’s brother), Cardini, Harry Fries, Irving Desfor (professional AP photographer who is world famous among magicians for the many outstanding professional photos he took of early magicians), Joseph H. Fries, Edward W. Clarke, Clark B. Allen, Julien J. Proskauer (a well-known amateur magician and psychic investigator known as “Psycho.” He wrote the book “Spook Crooks” in 1932 and The Dead Do Not Talk.” He was the club President (1935-36), A. L. Quimby, W. R. Williston, Bob Sherman, Eugene M. Homer, Paul J. Henshaw, W. S. Knighton, Herman Kimmel, Jack Williams, Warren E. Simms, Herbert Meyer, Charles Harris, Ken Franke, Max Williams, Albert Alstrom, Joseph Fries, Charles Nagle, Gerald Haifmann, Bernard Zyfall, Jack Trepel, Morris Blum and R. F. Foster. The Parent Assembly of the Society of American Magicians is in Assembly #1 in New York City. It is #1 because The Society of American Magicians was founded on May 10, 1902 in Martinka's famous magic shop in New York City. Assembly #1, therefore, makes the SAM the oldest and most prestigious magical society in the world. In fine condition, with mild toning, two horizontal mailing folds to each page and a small tape remnant to the reverse of each page.
