What are the results from a Natural Heritage Database check? A search of the Oregon Natural Heritage Database resulted in three species being present within 10 miles of the project area. Artemesia campestris var. wormskioldii (Northern Wormwood) was observed in1932 at the mouth of the John Day River in sand on gravel; Oreohelix variabilis (Dalles Mountain Snail) was observed in the 1980s in a gravel pit near Rufus; Lupinus sericeus var. egglestonianus (Silky Lupine) was observed in 1953 on dry, very sandy slopes just south of Biggs.
